As part of the MANIFESTA 10 educational program's series of dialogues, we present 'Dialogue 10' with the the Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky and the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. 

Mikhail Piotrovsky - Director of the State Hermitage Museum, a member of: the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Arts, the Presidential Council of the Russian Federation on culture and art, science and education. He is a Professor at the St. Petersburg State University, where he is head of the "Museums and monuments protection" department and "Ancient East," he is the dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, President of the World Club of St. Petersburg, a member of the Presidium of the State Prize Committee under the President of the Russian Federation, the Presidium of the Russian Committee of UNESCO, the International Council museums and other organizations. 

Rem Koolhaas - Dutch architect, architectural theorist, co-founder of the architectural bureau OMA - Office for Metropolitan Architecture (1975), the curator of the 14th Architectural Biennale in Venice. Some of his major projects include: the Parc de la Villette in Paris (1982), the Rotterdam Museum of Art (1992), the Guggenheim Museum, the Hermitage in Las Vegas (2002), the Netherlands Embassy in Berlin (2003), the Seattle Central Library (2004), the House of Music in Porto (2005), the headquarters of CCTV (China Central Television) (2008). Koolhaas is a member of the International Advisory Committee for the establishment of a museum in Moscow Melnikov House. Koolhaas' architectural merit to the communitybhas been marked by his winning of the Pritzker Prize. In 2010, at the Venice Biennale Koolhaas was awarded the Golden Lion for his contribution to architecture. 

Rem Koolhaas has advised the State Hermitage Museum in connection with the reconstruction of the General Staff Building and is also designing a building for the third stage of the Hermitage storage facility in a residential area of 'Staraya Derevnya'. Simultaneously Koolhaas is currently directing the conversion of the Small Hermitage's autonomous exhibition complex. 

The dialogue will be held in Russian and English, with simultaneous translation.
