On October 31, MANIFESTA 10's Education Program will hold its 14th Dialogue: this time between Helmut Draxler and John Roberts 'On contemporary art and historical process.'
Helmut Draxler (born in 1956, Austria) - is a professor of art theory, art historian, art critic and curator. From 1999 to 2012 he taught at the Merz Academy (Stuttgart), from 2013 he was professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg. Draxler was the director of the arts center Kunstverein Munich c 1992 - 1995 years. In the years 2004 - 2006, together with Sabet Byukmann and Stephen Jin, he became an organizer of the 'Vanguard. Movies. Biopolitics' In the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. He is the author of articles about contemporary art for various international publications and art catalogs.
John Roberts (born 1955, UK) is a professor, critic and curator. In 1990 he published his first book 'Postmodernism, Politics and Art. A Critique of Postmodernism.' In 2005 he received his doctorate for a previously published work, 'The Logics of Deflation: Autonomy, Negation and the Avant-Garde.' Roberts has participated in international conferences in the USA, Spain, Holland. Brazil, Denmark and other countries. Currently Roberts is the professor of Art and Aesthetics at the University of Wolverhampton.
The dialogue will be held in English with simultaneous Russian translation.
